The full-size sedan isn’t as popular as some other automotive segments, but if you’re looking for a spacious vehicle without the bulkiness of an SUV, then they’re excellent choices. The 2020 Nissan Maxima is loaded with features, outclassing many of its rivals.
Here’s our comparison of the top two 2020 Maxima trims: the SR and the Platinum. See which is right for you.
The 2020 Nissan Maxima has five trims: S, SV, SL, SR, and Platinum. Each Maxima has a 3.5-liter V6 that puts out 300 horses. The engine is paired with a CVT. Standard features include an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, proximity keyless entry, a 7-inch digital cluster display, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. When it comes to safety features, every Maxima has forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and forward and reverse automatic braking. Automatic high beams, lane departure warning, a rearview camera, and driver attention monitoring are also standard. The SV and SL trims add leather upholstery, adaptive cruise control, integrated navigation, a panoramic moonroof, and an 11-speaker Bose audio system, among many other things.
The Maxima SV is what could be called the “sport” trim, focusing on mainly performance and driver experience. The following features are only found on the SV trim and do not extend to the Platinum: paddle shifters, a sport-tuned suspension, aluminum sport pedals, and Ascot leather and Alcantara upholstery. The Maxima SV has all of the features from the S, SV, and SL, and adds ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory settings, and a surround-view parking camera system.
The Platinum has all the features from every trim before it (except the four SV-only ones). On top of that wealth of features, the Platinum gains premium Ascot quilted leather upholstery, NissanConnect capability, rain-sensing wipers, a power tilting/telescoping steering wheel, and a power rear-window shade. The available Reverse package adds heated rear seats, unique trim/upholstery elements, painted wheels, and a charcoal headliner.
